The annual celebration of sporting success within British Swimming was held on 17th November 2018. This year looked to be more competitive than ever following a superb summer of sporting achievements in Rio in 2016.
This year’s celebration featured 10 awards with coaches, emerging athletes of the year and athletes of the year recognised across each of the three disciplines – Swimming, Diving and Para-swimming.
The evening then concluded with the awarding of the overall British Swimming Athlete of the Year accolade.
The Grand Connaught Rooms in London played host to this year’s event and was a star-studded occasion with multiple Olympic and Paralympic champions and medalists alike in attendance.
The region are very proud that The winner of the Water Polo Female Athlete of the year was Stephanie Whittaker from City of Manchester with Emily Pyper from City of Liverpool in the top three.
Tom Hamer also picked up his second trophy in a week by gaining Para swimming Athlete of the year to add to his Swim England Spirit of the Commonwealth Games awarded In Birmingham.
