Entries are now open for the Swim England Masters National Championships 2017. The event takes place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield from 27-29 October 2017.
The Masters National Swimming Championships is one of the highlights of the domestic swimming calendar. Some of the country’s top Masters swimmers will be competing for medals in their age group. Many will also be hoping to break World, European and British Masters records.
The Championships is a short course event, and there will be lots of fierce competition and some long standing rivalries. It’s also a great event for those who are new to competitive swimming, or returning after a hiatus.
To enter the event, swimmers must have achieved qualifying times for the event they wish to compete. This time must have been achieved on 1 October 2015 or later to qualify.
“This year is the first time we have used qualification times,” said Masters Working Group Chair Verity Dobbie.
“We appreciate that some swimmers may be slower now than they were when their fastest time was set. But we believe it is the best way to ensure as many swimmers as possible who have made QTs can enter.
“We understand the system is not yet perfect, but we will be reviewing this process post-event to try and improve for 2018.”
