Swimathon the world’s biggest fundraising swim, returns once again in 2018. Over the years, Swimathon’s mission of uniting swimmers around challenges and fundraising has prompted more than 700,000 swimmers to take part at their local pool and raised more than £48 million for charitable causes. This year it is set to take place from Friday, April 27 – Sunday, April 29. Check out the Swimathon web site on both the individual and team distance challenges and how you can register.
This year Swim England have agreed with Swimathon to provide an additional opportunity for Swimming Clubs to showcase their training and compete together or against each other by hosting a Swimathon Challenge Club Session. On top of building team cohesion, you will be raising money for the joint charity partners of Swimathon 2018, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. If your swim club enters over 30 swimmers and raises over £1,000 for our two charity partners, you will be entered into a prize draw and stand the chance for Duncan Goodhew to come and run a training session with your club! By hosting a Swimathon challenge club session, you will also have the opportunity to apply for a Swimathon Grants Scheme.
It doesn’t matter if you are a water polo, diving or synchro club everyone can join in. Why not try 400m sculling or whilst practicing your ball control? Good luck and we look forward to hearing about your challenge club sessions.
