Young Volunteer Development Day

The Young Volunteer Development day is an additional opportunity for those who have attended or currently on the Swim England North West Young Volunteer Programme. The day will consist of a number of interactive workshops.

Keeping Safe in Sport: Safeguarding for Young Volunteers

delivered by a UK Coaching tutor.

This accredited course will provide people with the necessary age appropriate safeguarding information. An ideal environment to develop confidence, learn how to identify what abuse of a child in sport may look like and how to keep yourself safe in sport.

Introduction to Coaching

delivered by Carolyn Dawe.

This workshop will look into bridging the gap between the young volunteer programme and Level 1 Coaching qualification. This workshop will outline the qualities and skills required to be an effective and positive coach, the use of reflective practices and how young volunteers can help to support the delivery of Club Awards.

Your Pathway in Event Volunteering

delivered by Regional and National Event Volunteers Carolyn Dawe, Helen Whittle and Rick Atkinson.

This interactive workshop takes you through the volunteering pathway from helping out at club meets, to what opportunities may lie beyond. This workshop will provide an understanding of the varied roles within volunteering at aquatic events. This will include what roles are required, demonstrate the use of technology and lastly give an insight into further opportunities and training young volunteers can get involved in.

There will be plenty of opportunities to meet volunteers from neighbouring clubs and share your ideas and experiences.

Attendance at the Development Day will be certified by Swim England North West Region.

This will be a replication of the Development Day delivered on 18th February 2017.
