DESCRIPTION:Ready to sharpen your open water skills and get valuable time on the course ahead of the 2026 Regional Open Water Swimming Competition? \nWith race day approaching on Saturday 27 June\, Swim England North West is pleased to offer a dedicated Open Water Familiarisation Session — ideal for swimmers who have already completed open water training but want an additional opportunity to have a coached swim at the competition venue. \nThis session is designed for confident open water swimmers who want to refine their technique\, practise race‑specific skills\, and build familiarity with the course in a safe\, well‑supported environment. \nTo take part\, you’ll need to:\n\nBe 12+ on 31 December 2026\nBe a Swim England club compete member\nWear a wetsuit (hire available at £5 per session — please provide your height when registering)\nWear a bright swim hat (provided on the day)\nBe comfortable swimming 2000m\nRead and agree to the SENW Code of Conduct\nComplete a Health Form before your first session\n\n\nDate of Session\nSaturday 20th June 2026 – Advanced Training Session \n\nWhat to expect\nYou’ll be sharing the venue with other swimmers\, so strong spatial awareness is essential. Bring warm clothing\, a hot drink\, and a snack for after your swim — you’ll be glad you did. Wetsuits are likely to be required for the first session; if you’re bringing your own\, wait until arrival before putting it on. SUMMARY:SENW Young Volunteer Award (Online)
DESCRIPTION:The Swim England North West (SENW) Young Volunteer Award (YVA) is designed to provide young people\, between the ages of 14 and 17 the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge\, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport.  The Award has been designed to suit young people from any Aquatic Discipline\, (Swimming\, Water Polo\, Artistic Swimming and Diving). \nYoung Volunteers (YV) must be available to attend the following 2 sessions which will take place on – Friday 12th June 2026\, 5.30pm-8.30pm and Monday 15th June 2026\, 5.30pm-8.30pm\, and will then have 12 months from the 2nd Zoom session to complete the course (the Award must also be completed prior to the YV’s 18th Birthday). Failure to attend either of the workshops (or both)\, will result in the Young Volunteer being unable to complete their Award. \nThe Award aims to: \n\nProvide young individuals with an overview of the different volunteering pathways; coaching/teaching\, events and officiating\nProvide information about the different roles which volunteers undertake to continue the development of aquatic sports\nSupport and develop transferable skills\, which can be used to enhance education and future job applications\nProvide young individuals with volunteering experience which can be evidenced and utilised in conjunction with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.\n\nThe YVA is comprised of a number of workshops and modules: \n\nPre Course Knowledge and Introduction into Swim England and Swim England North West.\nOnline Workshops (over 2 sessions via Zoom)\nShadowing Evidence – submitted on Google Classrooms\nVariety of Online Activities\, Modules and CPDs – all submitted on Google Classrooms\nOfficiating Qualification (potential additional cost may be incurred but upon FULL completion of the Qualification\, the YV’s can apply for a full reimbursement)\nPost Course Feedback\n\nSENW have been approved by The DofE as a ‘(DofE) Centre’ which means that as an organisation we are able to offer the Volunteering\, Physical and Skills sections of the DofE Awards.  Any person wishing to complete their DofE Award through ourselves will be required to find another ‘(DofE) Centre’ that can offer the Expedition Section of their Award. \nMany students are fortunate enough to be able to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award through their Secondary School\, however others may not be in such a fortunate position.  Please contact SENW Regional Office for further information about completing your DofE through ourselves (please note this is only available to anyone completing their Young Volunteer Award through SENW) clubdevelopment@swimnorthwest.org \nCriteria: \n\nYoung Volunteers must be a minimum of 14 years of age on the date of the first Zoom session.\nIndividuals must have completed the award before their 18th birthday.\n\nCourse requirements are: \n\nYoung Volunteers MUST be available for both of the online workshops and attend them in full.\nAll work must be completed within 12 months of the 2nd Workshop Date (i.e. 27th April 2027)\nYoung Volunteers MUST inform their club they are taking part in the YVA prior to registering\nParent/Guardian AND Child email addresses must be provided in order to ensure course information is received and actioned where required (parent/guardians will be included in all email correspondence)\n\nThe award will utilise Google Classroom – please ensure your email is linked to a Google Account to access this.\n \nAnyone wishing to complete their Young Volunteer Award must ensure their club is aware before registering\, this is to ensure sure they are able to support the athletes through the 12 months. \n  \nDates for the Online Zoom Workshops \n\nFriday 12th June 2026: (17:30-20:30 approx)\nMonday 15th June 2026: (17:30-20:30 approx)\n\n  \nImportant Information: \nParent/Athlete Guidance Document \nCode of Conduct \nSENW Terms and Conditions \n  \nBy signing up to this Young Volunteer Award\, parents are giving consent for their child to be on zoom sessions and also provide evidence via Google Classrooms. \nTo secure your place on the online workshops\, please complete the information required below and make payment. \nThe closing date for this event will be 9am Tuesday 9th June 2026\, or once the course is full.

DESCRIPTION:The Swim England North West (SENW) Young Volunteer Award (YVA) is designed to provide young people\, between the ages of 14 and 17 the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge\, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport.  The Award has been designed to suit young people from any Aquatic Discipline\, (Swimming\, Water Polo\, Artistic Swimming and Diving). \nYoung Volunteers (YV) must be available to attend the following 2 sessions which will take place on – Friday 24th April 5.30pm-8.30pm and Monday 27th April 5.30pm-8.30pm\, and will then have 12 months from the 2nd Zoom session to complete the course (the Award must also be completed prior to the YV’s 18th Birthday). DESCRIPTION:In line with Swim England Talent Team\, Swim England North West host a number of training sessions per year for the Regional Development Programme. \nThe programme is organised to development young talent\, with insight into aquatic alignment and underwater streamlining and stroke development. Land training exercise to build mobility\, stability and fundamental movement patterns. \nTo access SENW Regional Para-Swimming Training sessions all swimmers must meet the eligibility criteria for their medical impairment to be recognised for the competitive Para-Swimming pathway. The primary diagnosis must be stable and belong to one of the 10 eligible impairment types: \n• Hypertonia (high muscle tone)\n• Ataxia (involuntary movement)\n• Athetosis (involuntary contraction of muscles)\n• Limb deficiency\n• Impaired passive range of movement\n• Impaired muscle power\n• Leg length difference\n• Short stature\n• Visual\n• Intellectual \nPara-Swimming Regional Training aims to: \n\nIncrease number of swimmers and coaches within the Para-swimming pathway\nIdentify and develop talented athletes\nIncrease skills and knowledge of athletes to create a seamless transition onto national talent programmes\nIncrease skills and knowledge of coaches / workforce within each region\nDevelop knowledge of parents and guardians to support the para-swimmer\n\nKey athlete eligibility criteria: \n\nAll swimmers attending training should be a competitive member of a Swim England club\n12+ years of age by 31st December 2025\nSwimmers with a para-swimming classification (S1-S142\nSwimming regularly and can swim 100m or more across multiple strokes (where impairment allows)\n\nPara-Swimming Regional Training is aimed at those swimmers who are below British Swimming Programme level \nFor further information on Classification please Click here \nAll sessions will be led by a Regional team of coaches. DESCRIPTION:The Swim England North West (SENW) Young Volunteer Award (YVA) is designed to provide young people\, between the ages of 14 and 17 the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge\, skills and experience to prepare them as Volunteers within Aquatic Sport.  The Award has been designed to suit young people from any Aquatic Discipline\, (Swimming\, Water Polo\, Artistic Swimming and Diving). \nYoung Volunteers (YV) must be available to attend the following 2 dates – Monday 3rd March 2025 and Monday 10th March 2025\, and will then have 12 months from the 2nd Zoom session to complete the course (the course must also be completed prior to the YV’s 18th Birthday). SUMMARY:SENW Swimming Skills Session - (Starts and Turns) - Kendal - Sold Out
DESCRIPTION:Swim England North West are pleased to inform our members that we are resuming the long awaited Regional ‘Skills Sessions’.  These were previously delivered around the Region prior to Covid\, however due to various mitigating factors\, we have been unable to offer them over the last few years. \nThe Skills Sessions will take place around the Region during 2025\, the first of which has been programmed to take place at Kendal Leisure Centre on Saturday 18th January 2025 from 1pm – 4.30pm. \nPlease note\, further Skills Sessions will become available as soon as they have been organised\, these will be at different venues around the Region. \nThis first session will focus on ‘Starts and Turns‘ and will be open to any Swim England North West athlete who is: \n\nRegistered as a ‘Club Compete’ member\nAged 12 or 13 years on the day of the session\nCounty Standard or above and be able to provide details of at least 1 x qualifying event/s during the booking process (this will be checked)\n\nThe session itself will last 3 hours 30 minutes in total and will consist of the following: \n\n1300hrs – 1400hrs – Studio session\n1400hrs – 1600hrs – Pool session\n1600hrs – 1630hrs – Studio session\n\nAn Athlete Health Form must be completed for each Athlete registering to attend  – failure to do so will result in the Athlete being unable to take part in the session\, please only complete this Health Form once you have a confirmed place. \nDuring the booking\, you will be required to confirm you or the athlete are aware of the ‘SENW Code of Conduct‘ and ‘SENW Terms and Conditions‘\, we would therefore request that you read these prior to completing the booking process\, these are applicable for all SENW Events and Courses. \nAny coaches from around the Region who would like to get involved in the delivery of the session\, or attend as volunteer coaches in order improve or pass on their knowledge and experience\, are requested to contact the SENW Regional Office via clubdevelopment@swimnorthwest.org. \nDeadline for all bookings will be 9am on Monday 13th January 2025 or as soon as the session is fully booked.
