SENW Celebrated its volunteers during ‘Volunteers Week 2026’

This Volunteers’ Week, we proudly celebrated the incredible people who keep aquatic sport thriving across our Region. Volunteers are the backbone of our sports — the reason clubs run smoothly, competitions take place, and our members can enjoy the water week after week. Without them, none of it would be possible.

Throughout the week, we shone a spotlight on the many groups who give their time, energy, and passion to aquatics:

Monday – Officials & Competition Volunteers

We began the week by recognising the dedicated officials, timekeepers, judges, announcers, and event volunteers who ensure competitions run safely, fairly, and professionally. Their expertise keeps our events flowing and our athletes supported.

Tuesday – Young Volunteers

Next, we celebrated the future of our sport. Our Young Volunteers bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a willingness to learn. They are developing skills that will shape the next generation of aquatic leaders.

Wednesday – Club Volunteers

Midweek was all about the club heroes – the coaches, team managers, committee members, poolside helpers, and behind‑the‑scenes organisers who keep clubs alive. Their commitment creates welcoming, structured environments where members can train, grow, and belong.

Thursday – Regional Directors & Sub‑Committee Volunteers

We then recognised the volunteers who guide our Region at a strategic level. From governance, audit, and investment to our discipline groups who organise regional activity across all aquatic sports — these individuals ensure our programmes run effectively and sustainably.

Friday – Everyone!

We did one final recap on Friday, recognising the dedication of ALL our Volunteers

A Final Thank You

To every volunteer across our Region: thank you. Your time, your passion, and your dedication make everything possible. You are truly amazing.

Want to Get Involved?

Clubs are always looking for new volunteers, and there are roles to suit every interest and level of experience. From helping poolside to supporting admin, events, fundraising, or club governance – every contribution makes a difference.

Some positions require DBS checks or safeguarding training, but many do not. What matters most is your willingness to help. As the saying goes: “Many hands make light work.”

If you’re interested in supporting your local club, simply reach out and ask how you can get involved. You might be surprised by how rewarding it can be.

Who Will You Nominate in 2026?

As Volunteers’ Week comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about who you’ll nominate for our 2026 North West Regional Awards. Nominations open on 1st July, so get ready and keep an eye out for full details on how you can recognise the incredible people who make our aquatic community shine.
