Medal Haul for North West Swimmers at Aquatics GB Championships

Swimmers from North West clubs enjoyed a hugely successful Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships 2026, which took place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre from the 16th – 22nd July 2026, collecting national medals across a wide range of events and highlighting the strength of the region’s performance pathway.

From established international performers to emerging young talent, swimmers throughout the region delivered exceptional results.

Wirral Metro Lead the Way

Wirral Metro SC enjoyed an outstanding championships led by the remarkable performances of Abbie Roscoe.

Medal Tally: 4 Gold | 1 Silver

Abbie claimed national titles in:

• Women’s 1500m Freestyle
• Women’s 800m Freestyle
• Women’s 400m Freestyle
• Women’s 400m Individual Medley

alongside a silver medal in the Women’s 200m Butterfly.

Liverpool Demonstrates Strength in Depth

City of Liverpool SC once again showcased its depth across multiple events.

Medal Tally: 2 Gold | 4 Silver | 4 Bronze

Leading the way was Ethan Kelly, who claimed gold in both:

• Men’s 1500m Freestyle
• Men’s 800m Freestyle

The club added further silver and bronze medals through swimmers including Ollie Lambert, Thomas Rickels, Madison Rens, Kerry Hennie and George Pearce.

Oscar Maddrell Dominates Distance Events

One of the championship’s most impressive displays came from Oscar Maddrell of Isle of Man Swimming Club.

Medal Tally: 4 Gold

The 14-year-old swept the distance freestyle programme, winning:

• Men’s 200m Freestyle
• Men’s 400m Freestyle
• Men’s 800m Freestyle (8.33.65 – breaking both Junior and Senior Manx National Records)
• Men’s 1500m Freestyle

1 Gold | 2 Silver | 1 Bronze

Katie Lee secured gold in the Women’s 200m IM, while Viyana Seifi added further medals in freestyle events.

Ramsbottom SC

1 Gold | 3 Bronze

Samuel Sutcliffe won the Men’s 100m Freestyle, with Oliver Parry adding two backstroke bronze medals.

City of Manchester Aquatics

1 Gold | 1 Silver | 1 Bronze

Carey Sullivan claimed gold in the Women’s 50m Freestyle, while Jamie Ingram earned bronze in the Men’s 50m Butterfly.

Bolton Metro Swimming Squad

1 Gold | 2 Bronze

Leo Talbot delivered an excellent championship including gold in the Men’s 400m Freestyle.

Stockport Metro SC

1 Gold | 1 Silver

Reece Grady secured the national title in the Men’s 1500m Freestyle, with Eleanor Broughton adding silver.

Warrington Warriors SC

3 Bronze

Bronze medals came courtesy of Leo Craven and Iris Hurst.

Crewe Flyers SC

Para-swimmer Lucy Shore continued her strong national form with a silver medal in the MC 100m Breaststroke.
