For a number of years, it has been a requirement for all Club Chairpersons to complete the Good Governance Club Chair Workshop as part of the Club Affiliation process. This workshop consisted of a three-hour online session delivered by a member of the Swim England team.
We are pleased to advise that this workshop has now been replaced with a new online CPD e-learning module, Club Chair Essentials – From Complaint to Resolution.
It has become apparent that many clubs are finding the complaints process challenging to manage, and while this topic was covered within the previous workshop, it formed only a small part of the content. The new e-learning module explores this area in much greater detail, providing Chairs with practical, accessible guidance on managing complaints fairly, consistently and with confidence. It also covers the key principles, procedures and situations that club leaders are most likely to encounter.
Completion of this module is mandatory for all Club Chairs and Vice Chairs for Club Affiliation purposes. Swim England is also encouraging clubs to promote the module to other committee members, as the content offers valuable advice and support for anyone who may be involved in handling complaints or supporting the club throughout the process.
Moving this training online makes it much more accessible for volunteers, allowing them to complete the learning at a time that suits them, rather than attending a scheduled workshop.
Once completed, the module will be valid for three years, and completion will be recorded against the individual’s profile. The learning can then be renewed every three years to maintain compliance.
We would therefore encourage all Club Chairs and Vice Chairs to complete the module at the earliest opportunity to ensure continued compliance with Club Affiliation requirements.
For Club Chairs who have previously completed the Good Governance Club Chair Workshop, we would also ask that you complete this new e-learning module, as it provides additional guidance, resources and best practice specifically related to managing complaints within your club.
