The Regional Masters Championships took place at Blackpool Palatine Pool on Saturday, 13th September, and were widely regarded as a success. The competition attracted swimmers from across the region and further afield, delivering a high standard of performances throughout the day. Numerous personal best times were recorded, alongside the setting of two new British records.

In the 50m freestyle (55–59 years), Trafford Metro’s Helen Sadler, the reigning long course world champion, established a new British short course record with a time of 27.76 seconds. In the 800m freestyle (60–64 years), Jo Beardsworth of Harrogate and District produced a remarkable swim, setting a British record with a time of 10:25.92, which also stands as a new European record.

Congratulations to all the Masters swimmers who competed in Palatine, and a huge thank you to the volunteers who made the event possible.
