SENW, in collaboration with OpenSwimUK, welcomed 30 athletes to Sale Water Park on Saturday 20th June, for a dedicated venue familiarisation session ahead of the SENW & SENE Regional Open Water Competition which will be taking place next Saturday, 27th June.
The session offered swimmers the valuable opportunity to practise in the same environment that they’ll be racing in next week, and the turnout was fantastic. Thirty athletes of all ages took to the water at what proved to be a very busy venue with many other swimmers also in the water. Many of our athletes were pleased to find the water noticeably warmer than it had been during the two earlier taster sessions held this month, a welcomed boost for those who had braved the chill previously!
It was brilliant to see so many competitors making the most of the opportunity to prepare for next week’s event. With over 200 athletes set to take part and a warm week of weather forecast, conditions are shaping up nicely, who knows, the water might even feel close to pool temperature by race day.
For more information on next weekend’s event, click here – come down and support your swimmers, the venue is open to the public and has a dog friendly walk around the full parameter of the lake!
We are also looking for a few additional volunteers for the competition, so if you are available and would like to help, please email swimnorthwest@swimming.org asap.
