Swim England North West Summer Regional Championships Deliver Another Outstanding Weekend in Manchester


The second weekend of the 2026 Swim England North West Summer Regional Championships took place in Manchester, with athletes from across the region producing another exceptional standard of competition.

 

   

 

A busy programme of events featured team relays, 800m and 1500m distance races, and the highly competitive 50m sprint events, providing a showcase of endurance, speed and teamwork across the weekend.

 

   

 

The distance events delivered a number of strong performances, with swimmers demonstrating excellent race management, determination and resilience in the demanding 800m and 1500m freestyle races. The quality of racing throughout reflected the continued progress of athletes and the support of coaching teams across the region.

 

The 50m sprint events brought further excitement to the championships, with fast-paced racing and closely contested finishes highlighting the depth of talent on display.

 

The weekend concluded with an exciting programme of relay events, providing a fitting finale to two days of competition. The relays once again showcased club spirit, teamwork and the strength of performance across the North West, with athletes delivering a number of memorable swims in a superb atmosphere.

 

The consistently high standard of competition seen throughout the championships is testament to the commitment of swimmers, coaches and clubs, whose dedication continues to drive athlete development across the region.

 

          

 

           

 

Swim England North West would also like to thank North West President Bob Bolton and Cheshire County President Barry Keeling for their support and presence throughout the weekend, alongside the continued commitment of volunteers, technical officials, event staff and support teams, whose professionalism ensured the smooth and successful delivery of the competition.

 

Attention now turns to the final weekend of the 2026 Summer Regional Championships, which will take place next week in Liverpool, where athletes will look to build on the momentum from Manchester and bring this year’s championships to an exciting conclusion.
