Young Volunteer Award


Aged 14-17 years? Interested in Volunteering/Officiating?

 

After much anticipation, Swim England North West (SENW) Region are excited to introduce the Young Volunteer Award (YVA).

 

Introduction Days throughout the North West Region are now open for registration.

 

The YVA is designed to provide young Swim England Members, aged between 14-17 the opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills and experiences within Aquatic Sport.  The experiences gained from this award can be used to enhance CVs and support University, Job or Apprenticeship applications.  The course will allow Young Volunteers (YV) to gain experience in a variety of volunteering roles within their Club whilst broadening their knowledge and skills of the numerous volunteering roles available within Aquatic sport.

 

To register, YVs will need to from choose one of the 6 Introduction Days scheduled at various locations around the Region (please note, this day will be classroom based).  The cost of the full course is just £35 per person. During the Introduction Day, YV’s will be supplied with a workbook to be used for recording their progress throughout the Award.  YV’s will require support from their home Club to complete the Award and they will be expected to communicate with their Coaches/Officials/Committee Members to complete various units within their Workbook.  A T-Shirt will be provided to all YV’s which should be worn during any practical sessions.

 

YV’s will have 12 months from their chosen Introductory Day to complete their Award and must be completed prior the YV’s 18th Birthday.

 

The YV Award is multi-discipline based, so whether you are a Swimmer, Water Polo Player, Diver or Synchronised Swimmer, it is suitable for you!  The YVA has received approval from The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and can be utilised as evidence towards these Awards.
