The Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) is a life-changing experience, a fun time with friends and an opportunity to discover new interests and talents. The DofE is a tool which will develop essential skills for life and work and is a recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers.
The DofE is divided into three separate Awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each Award is sub-divided into 4 sections – Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. With the exception of The Gold Award, which also requires participants to undertake a Residential section. Unfortunately SENW are only able to support individuals through the Volunteering, Physical and Skills sections of each award – the Expedition/Residential sections would need to be completed through another DofE Centre/Provider.
Swim England North West (SENW) are able to support individuals who are registered onto the Swim England North West Young Volunteer Award through their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
If you are currently undertaking, or thinking of taking part in The DofE Award, then the Young Volunteer Award is an ideal way to provide you with the required evidence for both the ‘Volunteering’ and ‘Skills’ sections. SENW have been recognised as a DofE centre, and those the use of the young volunteer award, we are able to offer the Volunteering, Physical and Skills Section. The YVA will supplement evidence of the ‘Physical’ section which may be achieved via your commitment to any of the Aquatic disciplines, leaving you with just the ‘Expedition’ section of The DofE Award to complete elsewhere.
In order to sign up to the DofE Award through SENW, you must be taking part in or have taken part in the Swim England North West Young Volunteer Award, and you must complete the registration process below. Once the required payment has been received, your completed DofE Registration information will be uploaded onto your profile via the DofE System.
Shortly after registration, a welcome pack will be sent directly to the DofE Participant’s home address.
