The Swim England North West Regional Pathway Programme has been running since January 2018. Continuing the success of the programme from previous years, the Swim England North West Management Board have approved a further years funding to run a programme in 2021-2022.

Following the success of the online programme ran in 2020, Regional Pathway Programme will continue to be ran online, with support service sessions being delivered via zoom. These will include: physiotherapy, nutrition,  physiology, strength and conditioning, performance lifestyle and sport psychology.

When possible, swimmers will be invited to attend long course training at Manchester Aquatics Centre in addition to the support service sessions. At present the date for this has not been decided and will be made taking into account the COVID risk within the City.

As part of the programme, the team are also discussing the possibility of attending the Flanders Competition in Antwerp, Belgium on the 22nd and 23rd January 2022. This decision will be subject to travel restrictions.

The Regional Pathway Programme will continue to be based on a three way partnership between Swim England North West Region, City of Manchester Aquatics Swim Team and Manchester City Council.

Swimmers selected for this programme have been considered by the following process:

Expression of Interest from athlete with support of their home coach

• • Top FINA points based on Rankings (Long and Short Course) of all Olympic Events.
  • Wild Card Option – at the discretion of the Swimming Management Group and Coaching Team

All places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Selections will be sent out to athletes and coaches in due course.

Wild Card Option 

If you feel that you have a swimmer who would be eligible for the wild card option, please send a request to kiera.hall@swimming.org with a summary as to why they should be considered for the programme. Please note that swimmers will need to be above the age of 14, exceptional circumstances may be considered.

Please note that all wild card entries must have the full support of the home coach.

New Swimmer to the Region

If you have a swimmer who meets the criteria above and has recently moved into the Region, please email their name to kiera.hall@swimming.org as they will also be eligible for the programme.
