Swim England North West are delighted to announce that they are hosting a series of Open Water Safety Sessions delivered by Staff from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
Athletes of all ages, parents, coaches, teachers and club volunteers are all being encouraged to sign up and attend this extremely informative session which is being delivered to educate people of the hidden dangers of swimming in open water, and vital information on what you should do if you were to find yourself in difficulty.
It is important that our athletes understand that even though they may be competent swimmers, ANYONE can find themselves in difficulty unexpectedly especially whilst swimming in Open Water.
The session includes video clips describing open water incidents which have occured within Lancashire over recent years, delivered by those who have been directly affected. It also explains that Open Water Safety is not just important during the summer months, it is an all year round hazard and the session will touch upon a variety of scenarios.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have a vast experience of dealing with the rescuing of people from open water incidents in many different situations – come along to this free session and find out a bit more of the importance of being prepared and swimming safely in open water.
There is also the opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding Open Water Safety.
If you are aged under 18 years, we would ask that a parent/guardian over 18 years is present with you during this session.
Should you have any questions at all please email clubdevelopment@swimnorthwest.org for further information.
Sessions are all delivered online using ‘Teams’
Deadline for bookings – 9am Tuesday 20th September 2022
