Swim England North West are proud to announce it has four teams competing this weekend in the British Championships. This is Great Britians’ biggest Water Polo Competition and we have the Manchester men and women, Liverpool women and the Lancaster men who will all be competing looking for them to be crowned champions. In 2017 the Liverpool women and Lancaster men were crowned the champions and will both be looking to retain their titles.
The iconic venue where the matches are being played will be outside at the Sandford Parks Lido Cheltenham which first opened in 1935. Following the successful refurbishment of the main pool and surrounding area in 2006/07 it was felt it was an appropriate time to document the history of swimming and to celebrate the 1930s boom in lidos and their struggle for survival in a changing world. The passion of local people prevented its closure and the dedication and hard work of the Charitable Trust has now secured the future of the beloved lido with many events now taking place over the summer months. Why not head over to the website which highlights the success story of Sandford Parks Lido.
