Well done to the SENW Girls Water Polo U18 team

🥈Congratulations to our U18 Girls team who went undefeated at the Inter-Regional Championships this weekend in Watford:

A Crompton (Tyldesley), L Blenkinship (Tyldesley), A Rowland (Liverpool)

H Ornsby (Chester),  J Freeman (Radcliffe), F Morris (Warrington),

F Buckley (Stretford),  A Taylor-Potts (Liverpool), A Harrison (Tyldesley)

S Ladha (Manchester),  A Colson (Manchester)

A Evans (Tyldesley), J Binks (Tyldesley)

Unfortunately after an incredibly exciting match at the top of the table against Ireland, resulting in an 11-11 draw, the final positions were determined on their results against the third placed team (South West) which meant we won silver medals by a one goal difference.

Head Coach, Laura Hesketh, was delighted with the team’s performances throughout the weekend:

“I was impressed with how hard the girls worked for each other and their commitment to applying the tactics we had prepared; resulting in three comfortable wins over West Midlands 6-20, South West 11-16 and East 5-15.

It was fantastic to go into the final game against Ireland with a chance of winning the trophy, and the girls showed such resilience to come back into the game after trailing 3-6, for the draw but it just wasn’t quite enough.

With only two players at the top end of the age hours, it bodes well for next year though!

Thank you to our referee, John Maddock (Southport), for representing the Region.

With thanks to the Team Manager, Gillian Crompton, for all her hard work and our parents, grandparents and friends who came to support. Especially Sian Freeman and Anthony Harrison who picked up table officiating duties to support the hosts, East Region.
