During the pandemic, Swim England North West have taken the opportunity to reflect and review the programmes and opportunities which were being ran through the Region. One area, that we believe we could increase the exposure of is Sports Science.
This has led to a conversations with ourselves and two universities within the North West regarding opportunities they are able to deliver for us. These partnerships will also benefit their students by providing them with the practical experience. The universities will also be able to use the partnership with Swim England North West to promote their course, in order to attract new students.
Liverpool Hope University (Sports Rehabilitation)
Introduction Session
On the 20th January 2021, SENW hosted an Introduction workshop for the Sport Rehabilitation Partnership. Jessica Law, Clinical Lecturer at Liverpool Hope University, presented an overview of Sport Rehabilitation, how the programme will be ran and the benefits that we believe the programme will provide for our Region’s athletes.
Following feedback received from the introduction workshop, we have finalised the way in which the programme will operate for the next 4 months. This does mean that some of the responses to questions raised in the introduction meeting, may be subject to change.
The programme has been in extremely high demand, which unfortunately means that some individuals have missed out on securing a place. Following the completion of the pilot programme, we will review how the programme has ran, with a view to start a new programme in the Autumn of 2021.
Lancaster University (Psychology)
