The future of aquatics relies heavily on the skills, knowledge and commitment of its coaches, teachers and poolside helpers.
The differences between coaching and teaching are greater than you think. It is often assumed that teachers and coaches simply convey information and knowledge to athletes. However this is not the case, in fact this is where the differences between teaching and coaching become apparent.
Once you have become a coach, you will make a crucial difference to your club and aquatic community, as well as finding the experience hugely awarding. This page will give you all the information required to start your coaching journey.
Enhanced Disclosure with Barred List check (DBS) and Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate (Wavepower 2020-2023) is required for all individuals who regularly care for, train, supervise or are solely in charge of children. As part of their coaching/teaching role they will also be required to register as a Club Support (previously Cat 3) member of Swim England.
In 2022 Swim England introduced the Coaching and Teaching Policy for clubs, full information on the policy click here.
