Swim England are aware that there has been a great deal of media speculation around changes to the current lockdown situation and we are awaiting further announcements from the Government this weekend.
This has created a significant amount of interest from clubs about the guidance that Swim England are producing for when we can get back into the water. We have already produced initial documentation on this for UK Active and the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
Swim England want to make sure that we have clear, consistent, agreed guidance across all of our activities. The Swim England Sport Development Director, George Wood, will be leading the work in this area along with our Head of Facilities, Richard Lamburn, working with a range of volunteers and staff from across the organisation as well as sector partners.
Swim England will put in place a realistic and achievable timeline to produce the guidance and ensure that all parties have the necessary time to take the actions essential to us getting back in the water.
Central to this timeline is securing clarity on pool opening and the Government measures that will be in place regarding distancing when there is access to the water. When we have this, and the time is right, Swim England will release appropriate information.
In the meantime, we will continue to support our members, to ensure that we are in a good position when we are able to re-enter the water.
