Bebington SC – Helping the Homeless

A swimming club is not just about the training and competing, or the amount of time spent around poolside. Swimming clubs are an integral part of our communities, ran by volunteers and people willing to give up their time. There are also a number of individuals who give up their time for other charities within their community.

Bebington Swimming Club decided to also support other initiatives within their local area by supported those less fortunate than themselves. Club Captains Emily Dobbing and Aaron Fox asked club members to donate items as part of their Christmas appeal to ‘Help the Homeless’. These could include toiletries, hats, gloves, scarves and food such as chocolate and sweets. The club captains were overwhelmed with the generosity of their fellow swimmers.

The two teenagers attended the YMCA in Birkenhead to meet staff members Jacki and Lynda to hand over the items.

Lynda commented ‘We are delighted to receive so much. Thank you to the club for thinking of us at this festive and cold time.’

Further items have been donated from the club members, these will be given to Charles Thompson Mission in Birkenhead.

Thank you to Bebington Swimming Club and well done to Emily and Aaron for motivating the club members to support such a well deserved cause.
