National Coaches Conference


The previously organised Regional Coaches Conference supported by Swim England, will now be ran as one National Conference on Saturday 6th June 2020 via Zoom. The meeting link and password will be sent to all registered attendees on Monday 1st June.

The agenda will include:

Implementation of the Optimal Athlete Development Framework and Club Awards into your Club Programme

This will present a case study from a club who have implemented OADF within their club programme.

Developing the Characteristics of the Future Performance Potential Person

This scenario based session will look at how can the coach, athlete and parent work together in order to develop the Future Performance Potential Person’s characteristics and traits.

Athlete Transition through the Daily Training Environment Pathway

This session will present British Swimming data on typical number of different programmes that swimmers have progressed through before reaching the Olympic Team.

It will also highlight the important of ‘right athlete, right environment’.

A retired or current athlete who has been through 2 or 3 programmes will discuss how managing these transitions has been important to their success.

Getting Better, Better

This UK Coaching workshop will explore some of the key concepts and challenges in talent development, and discuss the implications for the coach and their athletes.

Including:

  • sharing current academic research regarding talent development and be challenged to apply it to your own contexts,
  • explore the themes of deliberate practice an the 10,000 hour debate, and investigate how to assist athletes to accelerate their development
  • be checked and challenged to reflect on your own coaching practice

Coaches Corner

This will be a group discussion to help coaches ‘problem solve’ key areas of concern.
