Girls Competition

Division 1 – North West Thunder

Congratulations to our U18 Girls North West Thunder team who won silver at the Division 1 Inter Regional Competition held on the 25th and 26th January at East Manchester.

Kelsy Evans was nominated to receive a MVP award.

From this team, Kelsy Evans, Rachel Tibke and Josie Revans have all been selected to represent England at the forthcoming Junior Women’s EU Nations competition in Brno, Czech Republic.

Thank you to our team of volunteers from the Region, led by Event Manager Alison Hesketh, for hosting an excellent tournament.

Division 2 – North West Lightning

Division 2 was hosted by West Midlands, where a young North West Lightning side gained valuable match experience in preparation for the U16 events this summer.

Lucy White was nominated to receive a MVP Award.

Boys Competition

Division 1 -North West Tigers

North West Tigers were crowned champions at the U18 Inter Regional Championships over 1st and 2nd February at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. This win secured the squad’s third consecutive Age Group Title.

After opening their campaign with a 9-6 win over East Midlands, the boys then sealed another narrow win against London Sharks.

A comfortable win against East region set the team up for their final opponents, North East Steelers, also having won their first three games.

Tigers took a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period, courtesy of goals from Seb Thompson and Harry Dunkerley. A second period hat-trick from Charles Moore extended their lead at half time, before Dunkerly, Moore and Stefanov added goals to seal the win.

Head Coach Andy Wilson said: “It has been a pleasure to coach the North West U18 boys, building on the great work they achieved at U14 and U16 level with coaches Zak Sly and Ant McGuinness. It was a great honour to coach the team, especially as the boys showed great courage, discipline and skill to win the tournament against some very tough opposition“.

Congratulations to Malachy Bryne – Best Goalkeeper Award and Harry Dunkerly – Tournament MVP.

Division 2 – North West Ravens

North West Ravens were also at Ponds Forge, Sheffield to compete in Division 2 of the U18 Inter Regionals.

Following a tough competition, Ravens made it through to the Bronze match game against West Midlands.

The game finished NW Ravens 6 – 10 West Midlands, resulting in the team finishing a respectable 4th place.

Congratulations to all four North West Teams in their success over the two weekends.

U16 Inter Regionals are set to be held in June and July, whist the U14 competitions will take place in December.
