SE Athlete Wellbeing and Development Series – Swimming and Water Polo


Swim England London’s Youth Advisory Panel have arranged further inspirational talks with Ed Baxter (Swimming) and Tony Azevedo (Water Polo) as part of their Athlete Wellbeing and Development Series.

 

Swimming

Saturday 20th March 2021 – 11am-12pm.

Ed is a former member of the British Swimming World Class Training Programme and was Adam Peaty’s training partner between 2015 and 2020, where both trained at Loughborough High Performance Centre.

Throughout his junior career, Ed was a multiple British Record Holder and National Champion as well as winning the 200 Breaststroke at the Youth Commonwealth Games, along with a silver and bronze medal in the 100m Breaststroke and 4 x 100m medley relay.

In this talk, Ed will discuss his personal journey of success as a junior athlete and transitioning to a senior level, as well as his experience at international competitions where he represented his country, and finally choosing to step away form the sport as an athlete to become a businessman and entrepreneur.

Water Polo

Wednesday 24th March 2021 from 8.30-9.15pm

Tony is considered one of the best water polo players in the world, making his Olympic debut at 18 years old. Tony has an accomplished career, spanning over 25 years.

After graduating from Stanford, Tony went on to play professional in Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Brazil resulting in numerous achievements:

  • 5 Olympic Games including a silver medal in 2008 (Beijing)
  • 5 Pan American Game Gold Medals
  • 8 World Championships
  • 4 Fina World Cup Tournaments
  • 12 World League Super Finals

Tony will talk about his career as an International and Olympic Athlete.
