The North West Under 18 boys Water Polo team are hoping to bring home the trophy this weekend, as they start their campaign against 2017 winners East.
This year the competition is being held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield on 2nd and 3rd February 2019.
The North West have entered two teams, North West Tigers and North West Ravens. Division one sees the North West Tigers opening game at 2.20 pm against the 2017 winners. This will be followed by their second game against hosts North East Steelers at 5.50 pm. The Tigers on Sunday play
Ireland at 09.10 am and their final game will be against London Sharks. Four wins for the Tigers will see them lift the trophy.
The North West Raven, who are in division two, will be playing a different format with two groups on Saturday followed by play offs and finals on the Sunday. Firstly the Ravens will take on West Midlands at 1.00 pm. This will then be followed by Wales at 3.15 pm. They will finish the weekend off against South West at 4.45 pm. The Sunday games will depends on the positioning following on from day one.
Swim England North West Water Polo Head Coach Zak Sly states “This is going to be an action-packed weekend, with some top-quality water polo being played across the board. We should also see some close scores against the top teams with a good spread of England players across the piste. Six England players will be representing the North West Tigers”.
