Swim England Senior Coach – Application Stage

The Swim England Senior Coach Certificate will give you the knowledge and skills to effectively plan, deliver and evaluate a macro cycle of work. As a senior coach you will be able to lead a coaching team and manage resources to support all areas of a swimming club or squad programme.

The programme will allow you to:

  • Develop your confidence, communication and inter personal skills
  • Identify the principles of coaching in a development or performance environment
  • Develop an awareness of your professional role and responsibilities
  • Adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of performance swimming
  • Reflect on your experience and skills, and identify areas for personal development.

 

Key dates:

The programme will commence with an Induction day followed by the 1st of 3 learning days at Swim England Office, Loughborough, Leicestershire on the 29th and 30th September 2018. If you cannot attend this weekend please do not apply.

29th September 2018 – Induction day

30th September 2018 – 1st Learning day

6th January 2019 – 2nd Learning day

31st March 2019 – 3rd Learning day

Structure of the programme

The Senior Coach Certificate is designed to be completed within 12 months. You must be able to manage your time to meet individual deadlines.

Once accepted on to the programme you will be assigned a mentor. Your mentor will provide support via ‘WebEx’ or ‘Skype’ sessions and will visit you at your home club and at a competition to carry out observations. You mentor will also assess theoretical work which is completed and submitted online using our e-portfolio system ‘PebblePad’.

Please ensure you have sufficient time to commit to completing the programme within the set 12 months prior to completing this application stage.

Programme costs

The Senior Coach Programme is £2100. This includes Dinner, Bed and breakfast for the 29th September evening in Loughborough at Burleigh Court Hotel on the University campus. The full amount is payable by mid September once notification of acceptance onto the programme is received.

The applications are free to submit and a screening and selection process will take place after the 24th July. Please fully read the information provided on the Institute of Swimming page to ensure you meet the criteria we request.
